TDownloader for Telegram: Android Early Access
TDownloader for Android is now available in early access through Google Play.
The idea is the same one that made the desktop app useful: Telegram channels and groups often become huge file feeds, but Telegram is not built to behave like a proper file catalog. If you know a channel contains the file you want, finding it later can still mean scrolling through months of messages.
TDownloader turns the Telegram channels and groups you already have access to into a searchable local catalog on your phone.

What the Android app does
The app connects directly to Telegram using your own Telegram account. Once you add a channel or group, TDownloader can index its files locally so you can search and filter them without browsing the original chat message by message.
You can search by title, file name, type, extension, size and date. When you find what you need, you select one file or a batch of files and create a download project. Downloads can be paused, resumed, retried or cancelled, and downloaded files stay inside a private in-app library so they are easy to open, search and manage later.
The first Android version focuses on the core workflow:
- Add Telegram channels and groups you can already open with your own account.
- Index their files into a local catalog on your phone.
- Search and filter large channels without endless scrolling.
- Select one file, many files, or all matching search results.
- Download in projects, with visible progress and controls.
- Keep downloaded files in a private library and export them when needed.
Why Android matters
The desktop app is good when you want to organize a large archive on a computer. Android is different: many people discover, browse and consume Telegram content directly from their phone.
That makes the mobile app more than a companion. It is meant to be the place where you can open a channel, search it like a library, download what matters and play or share the result without fighting the file manager.
How to try it
The app is currently distributed as a Google Play test. You need to join the tester group first, then open the Play testing link with the same Google account.
-
Join the tester group: https://groups.google.com/g/tdownloader-early-access
-
Open the Google Play testing page: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/org.tdownloader.android
-
Tap Become a tester, install the app from Google Play, and sign in with Telegram.
If Google Play does not show the app immediately, wait a few minutes and refresh. The group account and the Google Play account must be the same one.
Privacy
TDownloader has no account system of its own and no ads. The Android app does not use analytics or tracking SDKs. Your Telegram session, local catalog and downloaded files stay on your device.
Files do not pass through a TDownloader server. The app talks to Telegram from your device, and downloaded files are stored locally in the app library unless you choose to export them.
A note about Telegram
TDownloader is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Telegram. Use it only with content you are allowed to access and download.
Feedback
This early access is meant to catch real-world issues before the public release: slow channels, huge catalogs, device-specific storage behavior, confusing screens, or anything that makes the app feel less smooth than it should.
